Her debut was at fourteen when she was crowned the Fed Cup as the youngest Russian player. At 15, she reached the U.S. Open. Later, when she was 16 she made her way to the semifinals of Wimbledon. However, she was forced to withdraw pro tennis at age 21 because of severe back problems.
